Sun 4 Nov Tabin Wildlife Resort

We went for a walk this morning at 6 and saw Gibbons swinging from the trees (above gibbon crossing)
See the sign at the bottom and the gibbon circled

We went for a long drive and saw a mouse deer which was adorable and meant to be nocturnal! We also saw grey leaf monkeys, very rare here.  A macaque male was sitting on the ground near his troop and gave us some attitude!! Was very special.

Twice we saw orangutans! The second time was a Mom and her young son. She came down to us and got too close so our guide told our drive to move forward fast, but he couldn't get the car to start up the steep hill. We had a few anxious moments but fortunately she didn't attack. We stopped again on the way back and sat just a few meters away from her. Wonderful.

Roy swam at the waterfall (I was lazy and didn't have sandals).  Will add picture later.

I liked these flowers

Tonight we sleep in a hammock at a mud spot..where elephants dig for minerals. Hope we see lots vecbecai can't imagine it's very comfortable 😨

The walk to the sleep-out was hot and humid. I was grateful for the browed boots as the ground was a sludge of mud with the occasional leech. We arrived at the mud patch sweaty and uncomfortable.

Overcoming my fear of heights, we settled on the top floor. A while later two young guys arrived with our hammock and dinner. They sleos on the floor one down from us.
Our beds for the night

After dinner we went for a squelchy night walk back through the mud. We were rewarded with seeing a rare white "rat" which only comes out it's burrow four times a year. Also some mouse deer which are very sweet. But I have to say I was feeling a bit miserable. Is expected a bit more from an expensive lodge sleep out. A toilet at least.
We knew the elephants weren't around so there wasn't to much motivation to stay up and watch. Just the pugs (who I do like). I read my book by torch light, but the bugs were annoying, so I climbed into my hammock for a restless night of back ache.
